In recent times, our fast-paced life is the reason for our mental stress. This at times is the reason for Headache.

Do you often have a severe headache? Do you know that the consumption of certain foods can also worsen your headache?

Headache occurs due to several other factors. Even a few foods can stimulate headaches. Yes, food can also trigger headaches. So, here I will let you know those foods items can increase your headache so that you can restrict their intake.

This is one of the most common problems amongst people nowadays and several factors are responsible for it that triggers the pain. Stress, sinus, migraine, cold, fatigue, excess sunlight, etc. can be the reason for your headache.

Foods that can increase your headache:

Avocado

Avocado high levels of tyramine, which forces the blood vessels to constrict and expand. This can cause a headache. As the avocado overripe the tyramine content in it increases more.

Generally, tannins are found in the skin of the fruit.

Alcohol



 Alcohol increases blood flow to your brain. Also, at times Sulfites are added to many alcoholic beverages that cause a migraine headache.

But that doesn’t mean that if there are no sulfites then no headache. As alcohol has dehydrating effects can also cause pain.

Red wine, beer, whiskey, and champagne are also under the same group.

Soy sauce

Soy sauce contains monosodium glutamate (MSG) which is a vegetable protein that is commonly used as a taste enhancer. The sodium content is also high because of the MSG present in it. Thus, can cause dehydration which can stimulate headache and nausea.

So, next time when you use it in any of your dishes, keep an eye on the amount you are using.

Also, Soy products like tofu, tempeh, and miso contain MSG.

Cured meats

 Food makers add nitrates to preserve meats like bacon, hot dogs, etc. These chemical compounds can dilate blood vessels and promote headaches.

Not only that preserved meat or cured meats are highly salted. So, one should anyway limit its consumption.

Cheese

Almost everyone’s favorite Cheese also has tyramine. Don’t worry about this as you can always limit your consumption. Aged cheeses, such as blue, Brie, cheddar, Stilton, feta, Gorgonzola, mozzarella, Muenster, Parmesan, Swiss, and processed cheeses often contain tyramine. 

However, still after avoiding all these foods your headache is not improving then seek medical help or consult with a doctor as this might be a sign of migraine or sinus. A doctor can guide you in the best possible way.

Apart from these foods, there are some other bite snacks that if can be avoided will be beneficial. Gums, diet drinks are some of those. Do you know that excessive intake of these can even cause dizziness and memory loss in people? So, please rethink before you make the consumption of these as a habit.
