How City Square App Solves The Meetup Problems Of Big Cities?

BIRTH OF THE APP: SEEDING OF IDEA AND EXECUTION

Prashanth Gurunath, an IT Engineer passed out from SRM University, Chennai, in 2019 also faced the same problem when he shifted to outskirts of Chennai. He realized that this kind of problem should be solved. There should be an app which tells both side which is the best place or venue for them to organize a meet-up in terms of traffic, time taken to reach, and routes available for it.

“Only when I moved to the outskirts of Chennai. I understood that even though every city has umpteen hangout spots, plans often get made to meet in the heart of the city and people miss out on meeting at places convenient to both parties,” Prashant says.

Prashanth started an app called Meet Square with Shivani S, Maitreyi S, and Rohitth Prakash with an investment of Rs.10,000. The app not only suggests a central meeting point but also the Zomato restaurant recommendations, with details of ratings, reviews, cost per head, and other important information about it.

“Users just have to enter input locations and the app triangulates and displays a location that’s equidistant to all the places,” Prashant tells.

The app came live in March 2020 after spending a whole year in building its own algorithm on top of the open APIs of Google Maps.

WHAT REALLY IS IN THE CITY SQUARE APP THAT WORKS

“In its current version, the app will be helpful for logistic firms to position their headquarters depending on the client base. A lot of money is spent on transportation to figure out availability of riders and drivers to deliver products across the city. So, a driver in a suburb can be assigned routes based on the inventory sorted in the warehouse by address.” Prashanth says.

The app now has more than 10,000 downloads on Android and has been used by businesses and individuals to figure out central meeting locations.

The app was used by NGOs in the midst of coronavirus pandemic for transporting and distributing the relief fund at right place. The team members were able to meet at a central place due to the city square app.

HOW THE TEAM IS SEEING THE APP’S FUTURE

The team of city square app has got onboard five SMBs and five restaurants. We all know how important this step is, looking at the growing market of SAAS. The company aims to get onboard 25 restaurants and 50 SMBs across India. It will also release new versions of the app, and has plans to make an iOS version. Prashanth is also working on the digital presence of City Square, its UX research branding, subsequent version of the app, and new updates. The problem which this start-up solves was always there. But he is the one gave a thought to solve it. We all see many problems and needs around us which should be addressed by us. By being innovative and visionary, we could truly change the world around.
