Indian railway journeys have always been uncomfortable due to the quality of food available and unhygienic ways of preparing meals! The passengers had no option apart from eating the food available at stations or train pantry car. The hassle is more especially when the journey is long. Passengers have no option than to go for the fast-food from the halting or to eat packaged food, which often causes food-poisoning, nausea, and Vomiting.

A suitable solution was yet to be found until Mr. Manish Chandra, a tech entrepreneur from Bihar got an amazing idea. He brings in the concept of RailRestro.

A young man from Patna, Bihar built up his startup and is currently having the headquarters of his organization at Patliputra. Manish Chandra was the first person ten years back who started his entrepreneurial journey with tech and telecom services. However, his urge to create a completely unique solution that can actually be called a start-up and can solve the issues of Indian people in real terms was still there. Thus, later in the year 2015, the RailRestro came into existence!

RailRestro is the first start-up of Manish Chandra to provide e-catering services on the train. This at that time was a completely unique service that enabled passengers to order food on the track directly from the nearby restaurants. RailRestro operates under Yescom Group of companies owned and managed by Mr. Chandra himself. The main USP was making good food available to passengers while traveling. Soon RailRestro got a great response from its customers and was requested to expand their delivery locations to various railway stations.

Later, due to the high demand in the market RailRestro’s team expanded its reach, and very soon services got available at all the leading stations in India. In the year 2016, RailRestro got affiliated with IRCTC hence becoming an IRCTC-authorized food wing. Since then it has been the customer’s first choice for food on train services.

Nevertheless to mention that today RailRestro’s services are present at more than 450 stations and serving in more than 7000 trains in pan-India completing its five years of its operations into the railways.

RailRestro is the best food on a rail service provider with more than 10 million meals delivery and 50 lakh or more happy customers. It has indeed made the Indian railway journeys healthy and appetizing with hygienic food delivery on the rails.

“We have also added food on train services and hotel by hour services on RailMitra app for the ease and comfort of the passengers. Making it a one-stop solution for Indian railway passengers was our aim, and it is good to see that we have received excellent responses from our users”, Mr. Chandra said. 

In 2018, Mr. Chandra launched came up with another Indian railway service app, RailMitra which went a mile extra to give comfort to the Indian railways passengers.

RailMitra is a utility app that is available on Google play store for PNR searches, Live Train Running Status, Seat Availability, Train Schedule, Train Fare Enquiry as well as food in train.

Mr. Chandra even stated that “RailRestro has been doing great with food delivery system in the Indian Railways, that’s why I thought to offer an AI-enabled app to the railway users which can help them in getting the right and timely information regarding their Indian railway journey, and this is how RailMitra took birth”. 

Both the companies function under Yescom Group of Companies and have its headquarters in Patna.

Mr. Chandra assures that his team is the best by saying - “We at Yescom family enjoy our work, and we celebrate each festival together at the office be it Holi or Eid or birthdays, company anniversaries, or lunch parties. We have more than 80 employees in the office, and we all live like a family.”
