Motivating story of Differently-Abled Jaskaran Singh who secured 99% in CAT, got admission at IIM Bangalore

Two days ago the news came up when a person named Mr. Vaidyanathan Singararaman was so proud of Jaskaran's achievement. He wrote on his Facebook page to let the world know about such a motivational journey of this youngster!

He mentioned in his post about the journey of this boy. He stated that Jaskaran was suffering from a Spinal cord injury at the cervical level and now has become India’s first kid to make it this big and made his way till IIM.  He is now studying for an MBA at IIM Bangalore.

The person explained that for a person who is paralyzed from the neck down and can barely move his fingers made this happen! Jaskaran uses a custom-made wireless keyboard at work and while appearing for his exams for CAT, he took the help of a scribe to write for him.

The way this boy dealt with his disability became thought of the ability to so many people. When you have strong determination and the willpower to do that nothing can stop you from getting there. The same happened to Jaskaran who with his determination and hard work scored 99% that to making someone else write for him. It’s an extraordinary achievement.

Also, the CAT organizers have contributed remarkable efforts to arrange for his essentials for giving the exam.

His injury didn’t let him sacrifice his dreams and he made it with his efforts. However, it was not at all easy for Jaskaran to overcome all this.

However, things would have not been like this 16 years back if someone wouldn’t have stood for it.  Yes, we are talking about Mr. Singararaman, the same person who wrote on his Facebook page about Jaskaran. He too suffered from Spinal cord injury back in the ’90s and at that time he was refused by IIM Bangalore because of his disability.

He said in one of his interviews- "It took the efforts of Dr. Suranjan Bhattacharji and my friends led by Elango Thambiah to change the mind of the management. IIM-B now is a leader in high-quality access thanks to efforts spearheaded by Prof Rishikesha Krishnan, who is now the Director of IIM Indore".

The altogether effort of 16years is maybe somewhere the reason that today a well-deserving candidate is not denied admission at IIM due to his/her health issues.

Although it would be very fair to say that whatever Jaskaran has done many of us could not have made it through with our hands and feet being fully functional.

He is an inspiration to everyone!

Jaskaran's journey also had a helping hand like Mr. Singararaman. Jaskaran couldn’t have made it possible if Divya Parashar, a clinical Psychologist at Indian Spinal Injuries Center was not there.

Mr. Singararaman even said that Divya has also set an example for more medical students to become Psychologists and make a difference!

She has perhaps played the most important role in Jaskaran’s life. He even lost his family after his spinal cord injury in a road accident.

He even wished the doctor all the good luck. He even congratulated Jaskaran for giving such a pride moment to the nation.

“We need more psychologists who can attend to patients suffering from such health problems. The problem is we don’t have enough psychologists, and when we refer our patients to consult them, patients refuse to cite reasons that they are either busy and would prefer to have medicines prescribed or it’s an expensive deal for them. We need more such doctors who can handhold such patients in their hour of need.” – said Mr. Singararaman in one recent interview.

The story highlighted by this person is definitely an inspirational journey for people to remember!.
