At The Age Of 42, The Housewife Gives Wings To Her Dream Career

Divya led the life of a perfectly comfortable housewife before being bitten by her career at the age of 42. When her eldest son went to college, she had time to herself, and then she thought about giving her passion for interior design a chance in 2004. Fast forward to 2020 - Divya is a leading interior designer with over 250 international offices to its credit.

“I have a burning desire to do something but didn’t hold a professional degree. Since I have always been interested in interior design, I thought why not try interior design. I signed up for a professional course and began taking classes with students half of my age, “Divya told.

Divya is engaged in turnkey interior design, and its strengths are the Indian offices of large international companies. Her clientele includes brands such as Olympus, Kone, William Grants & Sons, Abbott, Panasonic, Corus, Toyota, and many others. She does everything from designing large corporate offices to warehouses, service centers, and huge professional kitchens. It takes up empty office spaces and transforms them into functional, ready-to-move offices with an aesthetic design.

When asked how far her journey has come, she quickly adds: “Hard work always pays off, and that helped me too. I've worked with the best in the industry, created very sophisticated office spaces, and I definitely can't ask for more. ”

Starting a little late, Divya says she had to work twice as hard. “As I relate to a deeply rooted traditional family background, where I am bound to strike a good balance between family responsibilities and my career setup.” I was finishing my homework and studying with my youngest son. I've had to smoke oil at midnight for years, but of course, I don't regret it.

More surprisingly, Divya never spent a single penny on marketing or promotion. The work came to her purely mouth marketing and feedback after people saw her designs. When asked about the success mantra, she proudly explains: “There is no shortcut to success. I like to design and plan each of my projects by myself. I like giving my work a personality, although of course, my team does, I visit sites and take notes at every stage. Moreover, my biggest USP was the timely execution with attention to detail, which is why my clients commission me with repetitive projects”.

At last, we like to conclude on the basis of Divya's story, there are no set age bars to do something, and you can do anything at any time irrespective of your surroundings.
