After a long lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ICCI announced to conduct cricket matches following several guidelines among which the most surprising decision was to conduct matches without the presence of any audience inside the stadium. Several matches and tournaments like the CPL (Caribbean Premier League). BCCI decided to conduct IPL also following those guidelines but they are hosting the tournament in UAE.

The first week of IPL 2020 is over and this tournament has already witnessed some great matches. Some key points to know are: 

• MI Vs CSK was the first match played in IPL 2020. CSK won the match after losing from MI 5 consecutive times. 
• The very second match of IPL 2020 between KXIP Vs DC was tied. To announce the winner, a super over was conducted where DC won the match.
• The very first century of the season was smashed by KL Rahul, KXIP captain.

• MI got their first win in the UAE IPL match against KKR after losing 6 consecutive matches there.
• Dhoni has been criticized twice after facing loss in two consecutive matches as Dhoni played at position 6.
• Jofra Archer from RR smashed 30 runs against CSK bowler, Lungi Ngidi which is the most expensive over in this edition till now.
• Jofra Archer smashed 27 runs off just the first two bowls of Lungi Ngidi. He hit the first two balls for 6 and then Ngidi bowled two consecutive no-balls which were again hit for 6, the next ball was wide which made it a total of 27 of the first two balls.
