Depression could be the perfect storm in a healthy life and a hard fight for a mind to live. A study in the American institute of stress showed that around 77% of people experience stress which affects their physical health and 73% of people suffer from stress that impacts their mental health.

Here are some tips which can help you to overcome and will relieve you from stress to keep your heart and mind healthy.

Meditation and breathing exercise

 Meditation is a pure essence to feel yourself by eliminating havoc and tangled thoughts for inner findings and peace. A simple breathing exercise can relax you mentally and can lower your stress. A feeling of self-awareness is very important to reduce negative emotions. Practice at least half an hour a day to get rid of tiredness and to feel a sense of calmness within yourself. And as it is strongly believed, the mind endures what the gut feels.

Spend quality times with loved ones

 The effect of “tend and befriend” releases with the release of oxytocin which is a natural stress reliever. Spending time with family and friends will divert you and make you aware of your self-worth. Cuddling and Hugging with the people you love can give the feeling of calmness and trust which is a natural remedy to reduce stress. However, a social network is important but only social engagement can work is surely a myth. Remember, life is an individual journey and to be only dependent on others can never let you fight it alone.

 Saying “No” is okay

 It’s okay to let go of a few things that are in your hands and are stressors for you. Taking up everything as your responsibility will ultimately make you feel overwhelmed and burdened. Having control over the parts of your life which are causing stress is completely up to you. Forgive yourself if it is making you feel guilty for not doing. Being selective towards the expense of one’s time and energy can really help alleviate the stress.
