9 Year Old Girl Develops Anti Bullying App: A Huge Step To Stop Bullying!

Bullying in recent times has increased a lot due to the changing societal and cultural gap in today’s generation.

This little nine-year-old girl has developed an anti-bullying after her well-being was affected.

The saddest part of this is that children who are supposed to play and have fun had to think of standing for their well-being. But on the other hand, the step taken by this girl has definitely opened the doors to the sufferers to come out and stand for it.

Meaidaibahun Majaw, a class four student developed an app to find a solution to stop bullying as she herself is one of the victims of the same.

This nine-year-old girl in Shillong has developed a mobile application that would enable a person to anonymously report any discomfort situations or incidents to the authorities.

This initiative was taken by her as she too like many other children suffered from this and it even took a toll on her well-being.

"I experienced bullying in school since nursery. It affected me. I hated it so much that I was always on the lookout for a solution. No other child should have to go through the same," says Majaw in one of her interviews.

The app will soon be available on the Google Play store and will help victims to report such issues and bullies to teachers, guardians, and friends without revealing their identities.

Further in an interview, she explained how the app would aid in such situations. She explained, "Users can provide details of the incidents, including the name of the bully, and send the messages to individuals concerned. This allows the authorities to take necessary actions".

Not only that this little girl’s efforts have been appreciated by state Education Minister Lakmen Rymbui, who proud to say that that the girl would grow up to be a responsible citizen.

"I wish Meai the best in her endeavor to fight social ills. She will be a responsible citizen. I congratulate her parents, too, for guiding her," Rymbui added.

Reports even that that in a survey done by the Teacher Foundation in the year 2017 it is found that 42 percent of kids in India are bullied in schools.

Thus, this incident was not surprising to us! Meaidaibahun while giving her interview even recalled her experiences and shared how a group of students in her school ganged up against her and asked other classmates of her to boycott her. Not only that, one of the classmates had even stamped her feet!

Upon checking with the little girl’s parents, her mom Dasumarlin Majaw said that her daughter had enrolled in an app-development course in September last year, and learned the skills within a few months.

Later it was also heard that Majaw was hopeful that she would be one of the young coding experts from India to have earned a scholarship for traveling to Silicon Valley to meet investors.

"I have built another app, which would help customers at our resort at Tyrna to place food orders without human intervention. There are several other apps that I am working on... Hopefully, experts will take note of my work," the girl added.

This journey of standing for the right to revolt against something wrong has definitely set a benchmark for all the youngsters who are scared of revealing their experiences and feel shy to come out and speak.

Age is just a number. If one wishes he/she can do anything at any age. The right determination and effort are what one needs.
