This is an initiative that has to be lauded, and the brains behind this innovative idea and programme District Collector Gandham Chandrudu is to be appreciated.
These type of initiatives should be started from the Central Government, for the betterment of the nation and better preparation of its future leaders.
The young girl was chosen through a lottery system to get selected for the programme. She belongs to a humble family, her father is a farmer and her mother is a daily wage labourer. Sravani took this opportunity as the District Collector to take two important decisions. The first one was handing over compensation to victims of sexual assault that totalled to around Rs. 25,000. She also issued a directive that prohibited all women will not be assigned any work at government offices between 8 pm to 8 am. She also took ground visits took to check the functioning and the status of the district. She went to the Anantapur Town First Road to understand actual work. She spoke to the concerned authorities regarding the issues that the people were facing in the district. She also went on inspections to a few places.
In these harsh times, where we see destruction and diabolical incidents, such news comes as a relief. It brings a ray of hope to the hearts of all the people. Sravani has a memory that would impact her life in a major way. Also, the administration can use the outside perspective for improving themselves. We all need to work on the basic issues like the status of farmers, sanitization, improvement of child safety and addressing women related issues too.
