How far will you go when you are already making Rs.2 Lakh every month? Will you dare to invest your complete salary to live your dream with the risk involved in the failure of not achieving it? Here is the saga of Byju's learning App whose success story is in itself a learning lesson for many like us.

Byju started his early studies from the village school in Kannaur district. His parents were teachers at Malayalam Medium School and Byju's had his schooling from the same school. Apart from studies, he also had an interest in sports. After schooling, he got a mechanical engineering degree followed by a good job. At the same time, some of his friends thought of taking him to prepare them for the MBA exam. After seeing better results, his friends advised starting an MBA coaching center. Soon Byju started vising other cities for giving coaching classes. Today this coaching has turned into a big company making  Rs 3300 crore every year. Byju has recently purchased online tutoring brand Tutor Vista and EduRite. Both these startups are also involved in online education abroad. Along with this, Byju has started establishing his steps firmly in countries like America and England.

How Byju's App began
After he quit his job & started coaching center he was making Rs. 2Lakh per month. When Byju was taking coaching classes in other cities, he thought why not stay in one place and reach all his students atone time. It was here that he first introduced technology to teaching and in 2009 started an online video-based learning program for CAT. With this, they were able to interact with the students at many of their centers simultaneously. This was such an idea, after which he had a new journey. Ravindran started his company in 2011 under the name Byju. The focus of the company was to provide online coaching to fourth to 12th class students in addition to CAT. His method of coaching was so popular that his number of students started increasing. In 2015, he launched his flagship product, BYJU's; The-Learning app. This proved to be a game-changer for him. This app also became popular among the increasing popularity of smartphones.

Earning Structure Of Company
Some content is free, but fees have to be paid for the advance level. Currently, 40 lakh students are associated with Byju. Out of this, there are 1.6 lakh paid subscribers. The average ticket size of the subscription is 10 thousand rupees. BYJU's 90 percent of total revenue is coming from the learning app. On the other hand, the revenue from overseas users is 15%. Currently, there are 1000 employees associated with Byju.

How much is the revenue for every year?
Ravindran had invested only 2 lakh rupees when he started coaching class. In the fiscal year 2016, his company's revenue grew to 120 crores annually. After the formation of the company, the revenue was Rs 4 crore in 2011-12, which increased to 12 crores in 2012-13, 20 crores in 2013-14, 48 crores in 2014-15, and increased to Rs 120 crore in 2015-16. Gone. It increased to Rs 260 crore in 2016-17. Today the company is making Rs. 3.,300 crores annually & Shahrukh Khan is its brand ambassador.

None of these factors, however, have been a deterrent to his vision. Byju, who set out to change and transform the learning experience for thousands of students in India, has built a profitable edtech business. One forged with a simple ideology at its core: curiosity is necessary for learning!
