DAY OF ENTREPRENEURS - 21ST AUGUST

Each year, on the 21st of August, World Entrepreneurs Day is celebrated to create awareness for entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership around the world. This is a day for those who start and grow their own businesses in a variety of sectors, working hard as company founders, innovators, designers, producers, etc.

The word entrepreneur comes from the French word entreprendre, which means “undertake.” It first appeared in the French dictionary “Dictionnaire Universel de Commerce,” produced by Jacques des Bruslons and published in 1723. The study of entrepreneurship stems from Irish-French economist Richard Cantillon back in the late 17th and early 18th century. He defined the term entrepreneur in his book “Essay on the Nature of Trade in General” as a person who pays a certain price for a product and resells it at an uncertain price.

Entrepreneurs and investors are always different from each other which people fail to understand. The willingness of the entrepreneur to take risks and deal with the uncertainty ---distinguishes them from investors.

August 21st marks World Entrepreneurs’ Day, a day dedicated solely to entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation across the globe. It is also a day created to spread awareness about entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership across the world. On this day, let's look down to the people who inspire and challenge us to aim for greater heights of achievements and creativity and inculcate their habits to get successful in our own life.

AIBA, the Alliance of International Business Associations has taken great steps in order to recognize entrepreneurship. It invites people to organize events around the world to promote World Entrepreneurs' Day (WED) as it is a great opportunity to push philanthropic, social, and ethical business practices via conferences, awards, and initiatives.

ON THIS DAY, I WANT TO INTRODUCE YOU WITH SOME INSPIRING QUOTES BY GREAT ENTREPRENEURS

  • "Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

                                                                                                                  –STEVE JOBS, founder, APPLE.

  • "It’s fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure."

                                                                                                                  -BILL GATES, founder, MICROSOFT CORPORATION.

  • "One of the huge mistakes people make is that they try to force an interest in themselves. You don't choose your passions; your passions choose you."

                                                                                                                    -JEFF BEZOS, founder, AMAZON.

  • “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

                                                                                                                    -THOMAS EDISON, Inventor.

  • "I think it is possible for ordinary people to choose to be extraordinary”

                                                                                                                     – ELON MUSK, Founder, TESLA.

Every entrepreneur needs to have great courage, many times I had come across names who left their jobs in the view of starting their own business with innovative ideas. This requires courage because business is not developed in a day. It requires months to establish completely. Sometimes, entrepreneurs face great losses but their dream, determination, and hard work with patience(most important quality to inculcate) is what results in SUCCESS. A huge round of applause and salute to both men and women entrepreneurs who saw a dream which they had achieved.
