Rajinikanth was born on December 12, 1950, with the name Shivaji Rao Gaekwad. He belongs to a Marathi background, but he doesn’t act in any Marathi films yet.

Struggle-

In his childhood and youth, he struggled a lot due to financial issues. When he started his career, he attempted any kind of odd job like carpentering, coolie, etc.

 He was very hard working toward his work. Later in time, the Bangalore transport service employed him as a bus conductor. His journey was full of many struggles but he never let the hope go away. From being a conductor, he became a demi-god of the south, with a very huge number of fan following.

He began his acting career by taking part in small stage plays, where he was offered a part in playwright. There he came to know about acting classes at madras film institute by an advertisement. His family was against this but he decided to join classes, where his friend and co-worker Raj bahadur supported him financially.

 Success

Once he was performing on stage in his institute where a Tamil film director k. Balachander noticed him and he gave Rajinikanth advice of learning Tamil. He followed his advice without any delay. He made his debut in Tamil cinema, in the movie ‘ Apoorva raagangal ‘, where he played a supporting role as an abusive husband. The movie was hit and won three national awards.

The film ‘ aarilirunthu arubathu varai ‘, was the turning point in his career, where he went from an actor to the actor who not only enthralled his audience but moved them to tears. He played the role of the hero who sacrifices everything for his siblings.

Between 1975 to1977, Rajinikanth did many roles in films like ‘ 16 vayadhinilae ‘, ‘ moondru mudichu ‘, and ‘ avargal ‘. When it comes to the end of 80’s Rajinikanth was immensely popular in the south.

 He then took a decision to take a break from acting but made a comeback with the movie ‘ Billa ’. His double role in this movie made it a successful film in economical terms.

then he again done many movies like ‘murattukaalai’, ‘pokkiri raja’, ‘thanikattu raja’, ‘naan mahaan alla’, ‘pudubauithai’, etc.



 80’s included many blockbuster movies of Rajinikanth like ‘padikkathavan’, ‘thee’, ‘velaikaran’, ‘dharmathin thalaivan’, ‘Mr. Bharath’ and ‘maaveeran’. A movie named ‘netrikan’ proved to be yet another milestone for him.

He worked as the role of Hindu saint Raghavendra swami on his 100th movie, ‘Sri Raghavendra’. In 1983, he made his Bollywood debut with Amitabh Bachchan and Hema Malini in ‘andha kanoon’. The film was very well received.

 In 1991, he played the second main lead role with Amitabh Bachchan in the film ‘hum’. He then wrote his first screenplay ‘Valli’ and also acted in it in 1993, but it was not much successful. ‘basha’ was a huge blockbuster, and his film ‘Muthu’ was the first Tamil film to be dubbed into Japanese.

 His 150th film, ‘padayappa’ was the grandest success in his acting career. He again wrote a screenplay for the film ‘baba’, but the film failed due to its weak script, which was written by Rajinikanth itself. After which he decided to take retirement and show some interest in politics for a while but soon make a came back in p. Vasu’s Tamil remake of ‘manichithrathazhu’ and ‘chandramukhi’.

When the topic comes to the award-winning of Rajinikanth, he has won more than his fair share. He has won 6 Tamil Nadu state film awards, 4 best actor awards, and 2 special awards for best actor, and a Filmfare best actor award.he is also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, India's third-highest civilian honor.
